The way the colours spread with water over an empty canvas can provoke an artist in you. Watercolors have that power. They are a fluid and captivating form of art – An art form I have been fascinated about since quite some time now.
While my interest towards the medium mounts every time I try, so did the chance of meeting the man who has a mastery over watercolours. He has published a shelf of books and also has a VCD-DVD library on the subject. His works have been recognized both nationally and internationally with the signatures, of course, bearing the name – Milind Mulick!
I met Mr Mulick at Metro’s Rangoli Art Centre while he mentored a two-day “Hues Of Watercolours” workshop by Color-In – an art community which I Co-Founded. I took the opportunity to show him my square-shaped sketch book. My sketches are a little less colourful but prominent with shades of pen and pencil’s grey. Either way, he seemed to acknowledge my drawings with a smile and remarked a “nice work” comment.
As the workshop progressed, I could only relish in observing the magic of his hands – The command he had over the flow of colours, his bold yet subtle use of strokes, the vibrancy in the choice of colours; Eventually composing an empty canvas with a picturesque landscape of the Ganges using Watercolours.
He motivated an artistic urge to immerse my creativity into the fluid world of Watercolours.
Milind Mulick sir, thank you for the inspiration.
Here’s to spreading more watercolours!
